Official GOP Platform on Bailouts
This is interesting....

Remember when the stock market was rapidly spiraling downward before the intrepid economists in Congress stepped in to save the day with The Bailout? I know, I know, things have been great since then, the economy has turned around more quickly than Ted Kennedy approaching a DUI checkpoint, and you don't know what to do with all the money your portfolio has generated this month. But despite the Warren Buffet-like success that came from throwing nearly a trillion dollars at investments that were so bad that they were literally threatening to crash the world economy, there were some who suggested that a bailout might be a bad idea. In fact, ever since the bailout bill passed, I've had this nagging feeling that someone, maybe even multiple someones, had been publicly against such an action before voting for it.

Then I found this little doozy:

"We do not support government bailouts of private institutions. Government interference in the markets exacerbates problems in the marketplace and causes the free market to take longer to correct itself. We believe in the free market as the best tool to sustained prosperity and opportunity for all."
