or should we refer to it as the redistribution of wealth to the wealthy.

State, county and school money from Fed dropped, so my taxes went up. I did not expect it to go up THAT much. Add this to the fact that I am one of the many unemployed.

Anyone else getting hit on the property tax? I am in Wisconsin.

Merry effin' Christmas to me.

3. not yet
in MI. got my property tax bill the other day, it was slightly higher. I'm surprised it wasn't higher, but since the state is still trying to figure out the budget, I fully expect higher taxes to come. Haven't received the other half of my tax bill (school, services, etc.) we'll see about that one. good luck!

6. I used to live in Wisconsin
You taxes are high...but the state is generous with the benefits as well. Taxes are lower here in Georgia...fewer benefits. It's a tradeoff.

7. Not complaining about WI taxes, but how the tax cut is taking money
from my other pocket. Been in this house for 25 years and the taxes usually go up some. I love many of the programs and benefits WI has to offer. But the highest increase I've ever had in a single year was about $500 (new school).
This huge increase was due to the Fed cuts made to the states. Only $200 of the increase is directly from referendum on school improvements this year. We like out schools, want the kids to have what they need. When we voted for that $200 increase, no one expected the additional increase directly due to the Fed cuts.

8. same here in Mass
Property taxes went up about $400/year. And my contribution to my health insurance, as a state worker, went from 15% to 20%, so we now pay about $800/year more for that too.

Sure negates the $300 or so that our federal taxes went down....

9. NJ too....But who gets blamed???
My property taxes took a big jump this year also. State or federal tax cuts usually translate to higher tax bills at the local level.

But guess who gets the blame? Certainly not Bush or going back in time Reagan. After all they cut taxes. Most citizens don't make the connection that cuts in federal outlays is the thing that really does trickle down. Yet the money has to come from somewhere, and nobody wants their services cut.

So your local or state body bears the brunt of the outrage when they're forced to increase taxes.
