HARTFORD, CT. (AP) - The New England Health Care Employees Union, which recently settled contract disputes at 21 nursing homes it had threatened to strike, sent out strike notices Friday to 10 additional facilities.
The unionized workers said they intend to go on strike May 10 at 6 a.m. at homes operated by three companies - Affinity, Five Star and Genenis. The homes are located in Bloomfield, Enfield, Waterbury, New Haven, Colchester, Windsor, Meriden and Glastonbury.
The union is required by law to give the homes 10 days notice before a strike.
"There are no excuses left for the remaining three companies," said District 1199 President Jerome Brown. "Their employees do the same challenging work and deserve the same fair treatment and respect." <snip>
