Poll shows Herman Cain narrowly ahead in Iowa Republican race

Survey reveals rapidly shifting fortunes of Republican presidential hopefuls as Rick Perry's support dwindles

The Republican presidential hopefuls Herman Cain and Mitt Romney are almost neck and neck in the early voting state of Iowa and have far outstripped their competitors, a poll has shown.

The survey, carried out by the Des Moines Register, demonstrates the rapidly shifting fortunes of the Republican candidates. The Texas governor, Rick Perry – a frontrunner in September – attracted just 7% of support, with Cain on 23% and Romney 22%. The poll also revealed that the vast majority of voters remain undecided.

The poll comes less than 10 weeks before Iowa Republicans cast the nation's first votes for the Republican nominee.

2. Disgusting. If Cain is president, I will seriously look at options for leaving the country.
The last thing we need is the White House to be a subsidiary of Koch / Teabag Enterprises. :puke:

3. Caucuses need organization on the ground to get their people out.
Cain has none in Iowa. He hadn't expected to be in contention at this point, since he's only running to make a name for himself and get offered a job at Fox News.

Unless the Kochs can buy him an organization toot suite, Romney will win Iowa and New Hampshire, which will make him the inevitable nominee in most eyes.

5. True, but not the point
The point is, he can force Mitt to be as extreme as the Koch-roaches want him to be. That is the reason behind Cain's success. We all know 9-9-9 is a joke, but they can use that as a springboard for even WORSE tax crimes.

4. He's the conservative wacko du jour.
He'll fade just as quickly as he rose.
