Is Haley Barbour done yet?
Posted at 9:20 AM ET, 02/16/2011
By Jennifer Rubin

... Let's be clear: no candidate can successfully run for president if he doesn't understand you should rebuke efforts to honor the man most identified with the KKK.

Do I think Barbour is a racist? No. Do I think he's clueless as to how racial issues play outside his home state? Yes. Do I think it's feasible that the Republican electorate would want him as the standard bearer of its party to run against the first African American president? I really don't ...

Rubin is a rightwinger, so the above represents a rightwing take on Barbour's refusal to denounce the proposal for a Mississippi vanity plate honoring slaver, traitor, and klansman Nathan Bedford Forrest

1. Do I think Haley Barbour is a racist? Yes, I do.
Known around Mississippi as being a rather notorious racist, on the level of former governor Kirk Fordice or Trent Lott.

3. He'll never be done.
In addition to being a governor, Barbour controls one of the most powerful and corrupt lobbying firms the world has ever seen. His aspirations for future public office may (maybe) temporarily be quelled, but his ability to wield massive, invisible, and totally amoral political power won't diminish until his personal abilities do.
