Stern Listeners Say He'll Impact Their Votes

April 5, 2004

WBCN/Boston was one of the first Howard Stern stations to editorialize and encourage listeners to "Stand Up For Stern." Now the station says it has interacted with 8,000 listeners via its "Howard Stern 1st Amendment Line." The result: 93 percent say Stern's highly publicized indecency battle will affect the upcoming Presidential election, and 72 percent indicate they will vote differently as a result of the issue.

A combination of RadioVoodoo and Upoc Networks technologies enabled 'BCN to turn phone-based interactions into text dialogues, netting opinions from 8,000 listeners over a two-week period. VP of Programming Oedipus says it's "important for us to keep in close contact with our listeners' views on issues that are important to them. In fact, the feedback was so excellent we're creating a new line with a new topic this week."
