KGO revamp means Progressive Talk Weekends!
Edited on Tue Dec-06-11 01:56 PM by alp227
This interesting shift happened at KGO after replacing all its weekday talk shows except Ronn Owens with generic news programming. However, the weekends have 9 hours of progressive talk per weekend day:
- 8-11AM: Pat Thurston
- 2-5PM: Stacy Taylor
- 7-10PM: Karel

I discovered Thurston on Black Friday this year when she filled in for Owens and interviewed the author of the investigative journalism article at Consortium News, "Richard Nixon's Darkest Secret". Thurston did weekend overnights before the format shift. The next day I heard Taylor for the first time; his blog is at StacyTaylor.com. If you want to listen to these hosts' shows from last weekend check the KGO archives from past 7 days (however last weekend the times varied. Taylor was on last Saturday from 2-5PM and Sunday 4-7PM & Thurston on Sunday 11AM-1PM.)

Karel (radiokrl.com) hosts his weekend show only on KGO but has a nationally syndicated weekday show carried not in the Bay Area but on Monterey-area KRXA.

Oh, if you listen to the triple-A rock station KFOG, former morning host Peter Finch now hosts on KGO over Gene Burns' former time slot.
