How big a deal is Larry King's retirement?
His ratings were way down and his demographic is/was pretty much people on soft foods. CNN is down across the board. Nancy Grace has a bigger share than Blitzer. Are they in full panic mode yet? Should they be?

1. I think Larry has had his days of fame, and is now over. CNN
probably isn't in full panic mode YET, but I know they're concerned. I haven't watched Blitzer in a very long time, and even when I did, I watched it for Jack not Wolfe. It will be interesting to see what hosts they come up with in the future.

2. It's time for Larry and his suspenders to go ...
He had his day. It's over. Time to retire and pay attention to his current wife. He may not get another as good looking.

5/12/2010: A joint statement issued by Larry King and Shawn Southwick affirms that the couple reconciled. "We love our children, we love each other, we love being a family. That is all that matters to us. We owe it to ourselves and our children to continue being dedicated to each other."

There's more to life than being a talk show host on CNN.

3. Shouldn't be a problem. They are after all the "best political team on television"
I'm sure they can get one of the dynamic members of their "best political team" to take the place of Larry.

Perhaps they could use the charismatic Anderson Cooper.

Or the shapely Candy Crowley.

But probably the best potential successor to Larry?

The dazzling and brilliant Wolf Blitzer. Here's a picture of Wolf at his best...

I have less respect for CNN than I do for Fox.

4. Cnn has gone from a reputable cable station to trash
they took to spewing the same crap that Fox does. But Fox has that fixed zombie audience who DON'T GO NOWHERE ELSE. The real public is sick and tired of republican ass kissing. They would like to have news once in a while. And they don't mind political enlightenment happenings , whether republican or Democrat as long as they are the truth. CNN is just starting to censure news and espouse Fox.

7. Not much. News is dead. There is no more freedom of the press.

8. I never really cared for him, he's just an entertainer
As far as the rest on CNN, if they started doing some real reporting and investigative stuff I bet they could boost their numbers by 30% overnight. Grace is nothing more than a pitchfork looking for the next demon to fight, innocent or not.
I get that a 24/7 "news network" has a serious challenge to fill the time, make a profit, and provide useful information. The problem is how do you prioritize those goals? It is clear the priority for all cable news networks is profit first, the rest doesn't matter very much.

9. CNN
Good example of their problems: at this moment they are playing the court date before a judge for Lindsey Lohan. WHY ON EARTH IS THIS A NATIONAL MOMENT OF INTEREST????? Good grief. Wish they would go back to what they were originally: a good source of basic news 24 hours a day. Quit the celebrity pundit route. Just have some good journalists on duty.
