Has the Mainstream Media reported on the Freedomworks Memo YET?
Edited on Sat Aug-08-09 07:41 AM by whathehell
The one directing the town hall mobs?.

I know Keith and Rachel have done so, but in a sense, that's preaching to the choir (and no, I'm not diminishing that,I'm happy as hell that they have..It's just that the folks watching their shows are already "there" if you will.

Has the regular, daytime news done so?...If not, it really seems imperative that we -- as "Du Activists"? -- take concerted effort to email/phone them en masse.

1. not that I've heard - in fact
I heard a CBS News Minute a day or two back (on the radio) with some guy named Harley Karns (not sure on the spelling) basically saying the health care town halls were a groundswell of the grass roots - regular average folks rebelling against the evil Obama.

10. This is an outrage...There can be no "hedging" here, no wiggle room...No "tweaking" for opinion

regarding "matters of opinion"...Why?

..Because the memo is THERE IN BLACK AND WHITE!!!

They MUST show that....Clearly they HAVE it (MSNBC) or Rachel & Keith would not.

I just feel this is the Last Straw...If we let THIS go, we've given up utterly on the concept of a "free press" which is our constitutional right.

We can do SOMETHING....What do you say we have a massive "DU Call-In" or "Email-In" to the producers"?...We have something like EIGHTY THOUSAND MEMBERS, do we not?

The phone numbers/email addresses can be accessed easily, even in DU Archives...

...What do you say?

2. why would they. Their advertising dollars are coming from insurance companies
and pharmaceuticals

They had no problem putting up the swift boat ads, but when a group wants to put up an ad criticizing the insurance industry, CNN says they won't air it because it is too personal

What they are really saying is that it is too personal for them because they are in bed with the insurance industry

5. ...and their corporate board members are on the board of those other companies as well.
Does anyone have a link to that website which showed the web of corporate board members and how the member(s) of one company are also on the board of other(s?).

7. GOT THEM - HERE THEY ARE.

This is a good breakdown of the "interlocks":

http://sociology.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/corporate_community.html

But the matrix is on:

http://www.theyrule.net

The latter takes a bit of navigating, getting used to how it works, but I would recommend checking out the 'saved' maps and loading in 'health care'.

follow up: as I thought, theyrule.net was last updated in 2004, but I think you get the idea...

3. MSM is bringing on the culprits and letting them tell BS. Rick Scott, like he's a well-meaning
player, not someone who committed fraud, etc.

9. MSM
I am trying to avoid using the term "Main Stream Media" because I think a more correct term would be "Corporate Media" or Corporate Main Stream Media."

We need a correct and succinct term for the current media that is "of, by, and for the corporations."

paraphrased quote courtesy of a bumper sticker from www.billionairesforbush.com.

I also suggest the term "Corporate Mercenary Protesters" for the ignorant thugs taking over the town hall meetings.

12. Denver's channel 9 yesterday
reported on the disruptions, leading in with the event featuring Pelosi. According to their "reporter", the disruptive agitation 'comes from both sides.'

Schmucks.
