Dean Takes on Big Media
Howard Dean is making the message of the media reform movement part of his campaign--not just calling for overturning the FCC rules but also calling for breaking up existing media conglomerates

Gotta love it. The right-wing media slobbering over Howard Dean is what created the whole Howard Dean phenomenon in the first place. Gotta admire the nerve of the guy, if nothing else.

3. The right-wing media did NOT make Howard Dean phenomenon
It was Howard Dean, his courage and message, Meetup.com for rallying supporters via the Internet, taking calculated risks -- doing formal announcement in June, winning the MoveOn.org online primary, winning the 2nd QTR fundraising battle, raising the bat for the Cheney Challenge in August and topping Bill Clinton's single quarter fundraising goal in the 3rd QTR, going on the Sleepless Summer Tour -- and Dean's supporters for spreading the word. This Dean revolution was not televised or bred by the right-wing media. It grew from the grassroots up.

Also Dean took help when it was offered to him -- MoveOn.org offered it's Internet services to all 9 candidates, only Dean accepted. Pres. Andrew Stern of SEIU told each candidate that the path to winning the SEIU national endorsement was to earn it from the grassroots up, only Howard Dean did the footwork to win it.

Howard Dean and his supporters made the Howard Dean phenomenon. The media doesn't understand it.

4. The Dean/Press formula started as:
1. The Press attacks Dean (radical leftist blah blah..)

2. Dems notice Press acting true to form, and donate to Dean

After a while, they realized that blantant attacks were just helping his campaign, and decided to just do their job for now and provide reporting that isn't over-laden with neocon value judgements.
