26. I don't think Leno knew he was going to sing that...

If you watch near the beginning of the clip, Leno says, "Tonight, he's going to be singing his critically acclaimed..." -- I can't make out exactly what he says but I *know* it's not "When the President Talks to God."

A+ though -- I didn't mind his voice. I thought it was more of a spoken word piece than a rock song. I liked it.

Bright Eyes is actually comprised of more than just Conor (though the line-up changes a lot I'm told) so it kinda bugs me when Conor alone is referred to as "Bright Eyes".

Conor playing with a full orchestra behind him is Bright Eyes, too. The lineup changes depending on who is available to play with him. I think, on his current tour, The Faint and Greta Cohn (the cellist from Cursive), are helping him out.

And I love that the message - especially ELECTION FRAUD - was given light on mainstream network TV, so I salute Conor Oberst for that bit of truth telling.

this is a guy whos' been compared to dylan since he was 12 years old, he's 24 now, by the way.

but people shouldn't get so hungup on singing ability. i thing he has a great voice, actually, it always sounds so full of pain, and he's great at singing his songs the way they should be sung. i can't imagine them by anyone else.

i think the cowboy outfit is afairly new thing, as i've never seen him in it before. one of his two new albums is kind of countryish. i think he's trying to rob the right of their cowboy image, or something like that.

any markets (or however you phrase that)?

I've been sending the excellent video and lyric links to many friends and relatives - more than a few say they don't believe it aired.

Regardless, the performance is now saturating the internet.
