Canned response from ESPN re Limbaugh

Wrote yesterday protestinng the hiring of reichsfuehrer Limbaugh by ESPN and received this tepid canned response:

Rush is an excellent communicator and a big sports fan. He was hiredfor those two reasons, not his politics. His role will be to providethe fans perspective and to create discussion and debate.

I wrote back saying...

"Rush communicates nothing but hate and lies on a daily basis. And so what if he is a big sports fan? For all we know, Charlie Manson is too.

Is this the sort of journalism we can expect from ESPN from now on? Phony statistics, botched facts and outright lies?

Are we going to see him start mocking black athletes because of their race?
What fan's perspective is he supposed to provide? Far right wing racist multi-millionaire fans? He sure doesn't speak for me, or for any decent people I know.
If he is added to your broadcast, I for one will not be watching, and I will loudly join in any public boycott I can find."

I'm sorry you feel that way. Limbaugh is NOT a "excellent communicator" - he is a bigoted, homophobic, narrow-minded ignoramous, whose stupidity is only matched by whoever offerred him a job on your network. I will urge everyone I know to boycott ESPN until you fire Rush Limbaugh.

Instead of attacking Limbaugh directly (which ESPN can fluff off as just angry liburals), ask ESPN if this hiring means they share Rush's racist views.

Remember, that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. BE POLITE. Tell them that you are disappointed with their decision to use Rush in their football broadcasts this year. Tell them that you have listened to his shows in the past, and that you do not like his attacks upon you, your family, and your neighbors. Tell ESPN that Rush offends you. Tell them that he doesn't meet your standards for acceptable behavior. That's what I did. I'll let you know what they say. I am a HUGE football fan, and I GUARANTEE you that I won't watch if F.A. Limbaugh is on the show.
