Brit Hume and Bush
I found this transcript from Fox's love fest last week for 'Dubya, hosted by Brit Hume. Two paragraphs stood out. By the way, I am cynical by reputation and accusation.

HUME: Let's turn to the Mideast more broadly for a moment, and to specifically the Palestinian question. Yasser Arafat now appears to be back in the saddle, having dispensed with Mahmoud Abbas, a man I think you all had such high hopes for. We're not dealing with him.
BUSH: Right.
HUME: With Arafat, I mean.
BUSH: Correct.
HUME: What are you going to do about him?
BUSH: With Arafat?
HUME: (No you Moran (love that word) Santa. Pay attention!) Yes.
BUSH: Just convince the Palestinians if they want a Palestinian state, at least with American support, get an interlocutor that is truly committed to fighting terror.

Wow! That's all there is to it! Just convince the Palestinians to get, not a true head of state, but a go-between! (American Heritage dictionary definition: Interlocutor, “3.The performer in a minstrel show who is placed midway between the end men and engages in banter with them.”) Piece of cake. What hadn’t anyone thought of this before? Ohhh….jeeeeze. Yale, Harvard – I hope you are appalled, in shame, and in hiding. Take your degrees back while you can. It’s obvious they were granted in error.

HUME: Now the Israelis have indicated that they might get rid of him one way or another, exile, killing (Hey Brit, why not use the right word: Murder?him. What would be our reaction to that? I mean, we keep hearing that he's an enemy of peace, an obstacle to peace, and yet when the Israelis said, well, OK, let's get rid of him, the answer up in the U.S. government is, whoa, not so fast. What about it?

BUSH: Well, the best way - in America Always the best way., we believe in getting rid of peopleUh-on! through a peaceful, orderly process, Yeah. We call it the Supreme Court. and the Palestinian people should make that decision by getting a government that represents their will. Right! Majority rules! Just be sure to scrub the voter lists before you let any of them vote, and watch out for those hanging chads! Because I believe most Palestinians believe in peace. Enough about what you believe. What do you know?

No question Arafat has failed. And, you know, the sad thing is that we're really the only country in the world who says that. (And we’re myopic. On the big three: international relations, domestic affairs (esp. the economy), and the military; can you name one other head of state that has failed so miserably in every category? A perfect trifecta? Hmmmm?) The Palestinians have suffered under his leadership, (Oh, yeah. Tell us about it!) and hopefully new leaders will emerge (We have lots of them!:toast:)that will be committed to peace, willing to fight terror, and out of that will come a Palestinian state.

And I believe it's in everybody's interest that there be a Palestinian state. But it will not happen so long as the interlocutor, the so-called representative (Huh? So called representative? Well, maybe there is a point here; we call our “so called” interlocutor ‘Mr. President’. :scared:) of the people, won't fight terror. And that's the problem with Mr. Arafat.

Too funny.
