Everyone--what's the best channel/station to watch coverage?
Hi everyone, this is my first thread! :hi:

I was wondering what you think is the best media outlet to watch coverage on this week.

And I don't mean coverage of the RNC itself, but of what's *really* going on, in NYC. I can't be there, but I still want to be there in some way.

I really don't want to see or hear a word of the canned RNC speeches, or of all the supposed fear of the "extremist" protestors. I do want to see REAL coverage of the protestors and be with you all in spirit.

So I can't bear to even think of watching network news, CNN etc.

Might CSPAN2 be covering NYC? (I assume CSPAN will cover the actual convention.)

What about PBS?

Or should I just listen to Air America all day? (And check out DU of course.)

1. For gavel to gavel coverage of the RNC itself C-SPAN or PBS
the way things are going lately, I will go out on a limb and say MSNBC for "other" coverage. As of late, MSNBC seems to willing to question authority... course, ya never know once they gets sucked into the repug vortex what's gonna happen

4. Thanks all! Do you have favorite internet video feeds?
I wish I got BBC. MSNBC suggestion is a good one too.

I wish I could get AAR with video! :)

My ideal: a station that doesn't put any cameras inside the convention hall. The cameras follow only the protestors and supporters in NYC, and no one makes any RW comments about them.

I just can't bear to see any of the staged speeches or the RW commentators. I have even started to cringe when I hear sound bites of * played on AAR.

A dream world, I know. :)

5. Discovery Times Channel
It's Democrats week!

Schedule is devoted to Democratic Presidents and old Dem Conventions.

Sounds like a better choice.

6. Welcome to DU, Wildflower!!
I'd recommend C-SPAN for gavel-to-gavel coverage (if we can all stomach it!) I'd rather listen to events without talking head commentary and make up my own mind about what I'm hearing.

8. Thanks! :hi:
You are right, I can't stomach the convention itself...unless maybe there were some dems talking over it. :)

13. Really? I don't get DISH but I'm so glad to hear about
Free Speech TV! I hadn't heard of that one either. That's great.

It's wonderful to hear that there are in fact some cable alternatives out there.
