I have a class to teach that I need to prep for and then Franken's book arrives from Amazon. I can't stop going back to it. I can't get any work done!

The book took up most of my weekend! It's great. There's a lot of places where his anger just comes out. It's a much more angry book than his Rush Limbaugh book, but also very funny. To my chagrin, there were some lies exposed in the book that I remember having fell for.

8. Went to his booksigning last night

In the DC suburbs. There was a huge crowd. I think they gave out at least 200 tickets to get books signed (I got there 15 minutes after they started handing them out and received #80), and that's not counting folks who came along with the folks with signing-line tickets. Lots of good energy there.

Al was on fire. After reading some passages from the book, including some from the Ann Coulter chapter and his airline encounter with Babs Bush, he took about 10 questions from the audience. Keep an eye on him; he's apparently trying to create a liberal talk-radio network and leaves soon for a USO tour of the Middle East, where he's taking along some quotes from Brit Hume about how Iraq is a safer place than California. Bet that'll make Fox popular with the grunts. He also provided some interesting stats on the number of jobs created during both Bush administrations. (Hint: It's a negative number.) He ended angry, full of righteous indignation for what the Bush junta has done to the country, and exhorted us all to help take the country back.

He does a great job at pointing out what we all have been seeing and saying for a long time.
