Hoeffel steps up campaign to unseat Specter
With the path to his party's U.S. Senate nomination apparently clear, U.S. Rep. Joseph Hoeffel kicked off a statewide campaign swing with sharp attacks on the policies of the Bush administration and the man he wants to replace, Sen. Arlen Specter, for supporting them.

Hoeffel, who announced his candidacy in July, made his debut on the Senate stump with a speech in Johnstown, followed by a rally in his Montgomery County home last night. The Democrat will continue the tour this morning with an appearance on the University of Pittsburgh main campus.

According to a text distributed by his staff, the congressman's kickoff speech was dominated by angry rhetoric denouncing the administration on the economy, trade and the war in Iraq.

"Enough is enough," Hoeffel said. "I'm fed up -- just sick and tired of the politics that got us here. ... In all these years I've never seen such a radical, reckless and regressive policy as we see now from those who control Washington."

2. Not anger-righteous indignation
Good luck to Hoeffel. Sounds like the kind of guy who will call a spade a spade-and get the message out on how badly this Maladministration has handled the country and international relations.

Looks like a winner...hope he makes it. Do you have plans to campaign or volunteer at all for him?

5. You bet!
It will be an uphill battle, and Hoeffel will need all the help that he can get.
