2. The CDC is an unofficial group that has lost clout
over the past few decades.

here's something even MORE SHOCKING

1972
March--CDC Convention amended its constitution to permit endorsement of a presidential candidate, but the Convention did not avail itself of this opportunity. McGovern received 56% of the vote, but fell short of the 60% required for official endorsement . . .

and history repeats itself! Go Dean!

on edit: can we get a link documenting past CDC pres. primary endorsements?

6. That was pretty in line with the Democratic Party in those days...
What is shocking?

Do you have the results when Carter and Clinton were running, too? Or only selective reporting to try and smear someone?

8. Wow...selective editing of even that announcement...
The rest looks pretty good..here's the full statement from March 1972:

1972
March--CDC Convention amended its constitution to permit endorsement of a presidential candidate, but the Convention did not avail itself of this opportunity. McGovern received 56% of the vote, but fell short of the 60% required for official endorsement, Congressman Ronald Dellums inspired the delegates with his call for a coalition of all oppressed groups-- victims of racism, injustice, sexism, exploitation, age, and others who constituted the majority of the people. Congressman Jerome Waldie stated to the delegates: "When the California Democratic Council is active, the Democratic Party has a conscience; when the California Democratic Council is inactive, the Democratic Party loses its conscience." He admitted that power-hungry office-holders had turned against CDC, because its stands on issues had embarrased them.

10. Where I live in CA I bet Dennis is in double digits
My guess is that Santa Cruz County would go 1/3 Dean, 1/3 Dennis, and 1/3 everyone else combined.

11. Nice!
California was the first state in which Dean had a lead in a poll, by one point. Despite their new gropinator governor, it is still a great state.
