Dozens of Broward voters get multiple ballots for Nov. mail-in elections

Dozens of Broward County residents are reporting that they received extra ballots for the Nov. 4 mail-in election in four cities in the latest misstep for Elections Supervisor Miriam Oliphant's office.

The problems prompted officials in Southwest Ranches to demand Oliphant carefully verify the signatures on each ballot when they're counted. The Secretary of State's Office, which oversees Florida's election system, also inquired Monday into what happened as part of its ongoing review of Oliphant's ability to run local voting.

The ballot errors are the result of Oliphant's failure to clean up the county's vast voter registration roll as required under state law. Officials suspect that thousands of people who have moved, have died or are in prison pack the county's list of 1 million voters.

Miriam Oliphant has to be the most incompetent elections supervisor in American history. Every piece of news I have ever seen about her department has been an embarassment.
