Dennich Kucinich, Ed Asner and Mimi Kennedy rally with strikers in Venice
Dennis Kucinich gave an inspiring speech to strikers and supporters at a rally in Venice. Ed Asner and Mimi Kennedy also gave great speeches to the enthusiastic crowd. When Dennis finished his speech, he led the crowd in a march. Mimi Kenedy and Ed Asner also helped lead the march. A great many people who had never seen or heard Dennis before were inspired to help this great man get elected.

Dennis was enroute to Hawaii and he arranged to take a long enough stop over in the L.A. area to stand up for labor.

We all need to follow his example. Big business will just take away more and more benfits until someone tells them "no."

7. Which strikers?
Was he meeting with the grocery workers? He did so briefly here in St. Louis earlier this week. We are out over the same issues as the California workers (went out a few days ahead of them) health care costs, lousy wage increases and less job security (more vendors doing our work). His support was appreciated!

9. Last week, the L.A. Times ran a story where they tried to make Dennis
look security conscious. He didn't have any security of any kind. He came dressed in blue jeans and red shirt with Lila Garrett and a driver in a little white car. When he wasn't speaking, he was either in the middle of the crowd or leading the march, side by side with the workers. Mimi Kennedy and Ed Asner were also really nice.

One thing I have noticed about the Kucinich campaign is that it attracts nice people. The volunteers I've met are very respectful of others and very friendly. I think this is because they are true liberals.

10. I worry about his security, because he doesn't have any,
and this is about the TENTH time he has "walked the walk" for strikers.
Please, God, don't let him be Wellstoned. In Albuquerque, I talked to his car, giving them directions how to get to the Debate. Small car with 4 people in it including DK.

DK made a BIG HIT with the dockworkers who were locked out by the employers; then the union decided to go with Gephart, who hasn't "walked the walk" in years. Some union people are really getting pissed with their so-called leadership picking their candidate for them. They want Dennis.

11. Not to mention the fact that Dennis carries a union card
Unfortunately this is nothing unusual from the union bosses. They tend to endorse the "safe" choice, while the rank and file will support whoever they want to.

Dennis is the ONLY candidate who is actually a union member. I couldn't BELIEVE the last debate when Woodruff skipped RIGHT OVER HIM on that question, only to talk to Geph and Edwards about their "union ties". :eyes:

However, it's still way early, and we're gaining ground every day.

24. Judy Woodruff was trying her best not to let him speak.
We need to ask CNN to make the next debate fairer.

12. can we get pictures.
We are Kucinich volunteers in San Diego County, Calif. We have represented DK at Albertson's employees picket lines..They are harried enough,we do not push DK on them. We have had supportive rallies at their sites, without hardly mentioning DK's name.
We did let them know we want a president who will work to disconnect health care benefits from employment..This a benefit to employees and employers. Also, a DK presidency would bring about labor laws similiar to Canada's.... A majority of workers sign cards wanting union representation,it is done. Why should it be more complicated than that..
Anyway, did anyone take pictures of this event.. We want to share them with other picketers..We told some strikers of DK's support today..They were very pleased..
Please, any pictures available...

22. Asner is a repuke in Dem's clothing?
Don't you have him confused with someone else? He's been on the left side of issues since before he was on the Lou Grant Show. In fact, his show was canceled suddenly despite decent ratings after he became especially outspoken against Reagan.

23. Asner spoke at the J20 L.A. Counter-inaugural
He spoke out about how gore was a Democrat of the future and how Bush had stolen the White House. Ed Asner has been a liberal activist Democrat for years. He also opposed the war. He always uses wisdom in the causes and individuals he endorses and he always endorses the best candidates, like Kucinich.

15. PLEASE, please tell them that DK wants to repeal most of the
infamous TAFT-HARTLEY ACT, the instrument by which corporations have the mass of power on their side!!THIS SHOULD BE AN ALL-DEMOCRAT ISSUE, BUT ONLY DK IS ADDRESSING IT.

20. It doesn't hurt to let them know who is supporting them.
They are usually glad to hear about Dennis's support for the strikers. Besides, if the wrong candidate gets the nomination, they be mad that no one told them about Dennis.

14. I found a newslink:
It wasn't in my paper this morning, but I found it here:

http://abcnews.go.com/wire/US/ap20031018_1119.html

It includes a pic of Dennis and Asner.

Grocery clerks from three chains Kroger Co.'s Ralphs, Safeway Inc.'s Vons and Albertsons Inc. went on strike or were locked out of stores from San Luis Obispo to San Diego in a contract dispute involving the cost of health care coverage and other issues.

Union members got a boost Saturday when Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich spoke to picketing workers outside a Ralphs grocery store in Venice.

"Every worker who's ever had their wage knocked down must support your efforts, and every worker who's ever been asked to sacrifice their health care benefits must support your efforts," said Kucinich, an Ohio congressman.

18. thanks..Lwolf
Thanks..This picture will go to good use..We will circulate it among local unions. Those brave strikers need our support.. Why a politician with DK's backbone is needed. He will take on worker replacement laws..
By the way another politician who deserved our congratulations for supporting picketers in addition to Kucinich..Fomer Congressman and House Democratic whip David Bonior...He is a brave soul...
I recall many of his efforts in third world countries taking on Globialization issues..

17. He wants to do a lot of positive things for labor!!
For instance, as soon as a union is voted in, the company would have to deal with it IMMEDIATELY!! Not wait 2-3-5 YEARS for it to be certified, meanwhile the corporation is getting rid of all union workers and replacing them with non-union people, and sending most of the jobs overseas.
