Fall 2003 Keystone (PA) poll: Hoeffel 19%, Crystle 5%, Undecided 76%
Looks like Charlie Crystle is starting to get noticed in Pennsylvania, 5% is where Dean was in January in Iowa!

9. If you are a registered DEMOCRAT, and the Primary election for United States Senator were held today, would you vote for Joe Hoeffel or Charlie Crystle?

19% HOEFFEL
5% CRYSTLE
76% UNDECIDED

10. If you are a registered REPUBLICAN, and the Primary election for United States Senator were held today, would you vote for Arlen Specter or Pat Toomey?

31% SPECTER
46% TOOMEY
23% UNDECIDED

And I'm not surprised to see Toomey beating Specter either-- its a "throw out the bums" year.

4. Awesome
BTW, I'd like to make a plug for donations for Charlie Crystle's campaign. If you are interested in supporting a grass roots campaign for a candidate who is NOT molded as one of the typical 'insider' democrats we find in DC, then why not donate a few dollars to help out the Crystle campaign.

As an ex-PAer and someone who lived right next to Hoeffel's territory, I can't find that much to bad mouth about Joe. But he's a bland person who doesn't offer much difference from Arlen Specter (the current senator who is up for re-election). Joe is also DLC and pro-free trade, which isn't something that sells well in an industrial state that has been devastated by all these free trade pacts.

Plus Charlie is one of us. He does post here from time to time and was even on the Mike Malloy show a few weeks ago.

And if you're looking to get involved in a great campaign, why not volunteer for the Crystle Campaign (I am). Charlie is definately looking for volunteers to help with the campaign!

If you can contribute: http://www.crystleforsenate.com/contributions.html

Learn more about Charlie Crystle at http://www.crystleforsenate.com/

(BTW, that was me who was playing Tic Tac Toe with Charlie - he does cheat!!! He cleared the screen when it was clear I was going to beat him!!!)

6. Oh whatever
A poll is a poll is a poll... it's a sample just like any other.

13. And we wonder why Bush can convince people of things
I honestly can not believe you said that. I sure hope you aren't involved in any business requiring any math skills. For the record, for a poll to be accurate you have to have either a random sample or a stratified random sample. You can't just send out a bunch of ballots, recieve some back, and hope for the best. I could, provided I get to chose the method, produce a poll of 500 people which would litterally give you any percent approval for Bush you might wish.

Do you want 0%? easy I just post it here. Do you want 100%? easy I give to current White House staffers. Do you want 75%? easy I give 375 to WH staffers and 125 here. A poll, isn't a poll, isn't a poll.

7. Exactly
Internet polls aren't statistically valid.

11. This isn't an internet poll
Read it, it was a mailed out survey to a select group-- 202 of that group responded. The Q poll out yesterday showed about the same 75% that had never heard of Hoeffel.

14. Was it random
If not it is still not valid. Also the fact that the number of people surveyed--202--is quite small.

15. Methodology
It is just what rich business owners feel about the race and only 1/20th of them even responded. This isn't a good poll to get the feeling of the public.

http://www.lincolninstitute.org/Polls.html

The Fall 2003 Keystone Business Climate Survey was mailed on September 12, 2004 to 4,000 businesses employing 50 or more people in their Pennsylvania operations. As of the survey deadline of September 30, 2003 a total of 202 responses had been received.

5. I'm glad my $5.00 was well spent .
If Crystle has 5% who would vote for him at this early date, with his campaign only two weeks old, I forsee a bright future...(looking into Crystle ball)

8. Two weeks old?
I've been hearing about this guy for months now. Maybe he is only officially running for 2 weeks but that means that Dennis Kucinich just got into the race for president a few days ago.

12. This article is from July 6th
This article suggests that he has basically been in the news at least since early July and probably before that. It doesn't really matter when he officially announces or when his office opens. Only about 10 people supported him in this poorly done poll. If you put any random name down you could probably that a few people to vote for that name anyway.

http://www.post-gazette.com/election/20030706specter401elect2p2.asp

A third, Charlie Crystle, a self-made software millionaire, had not formally declared for the nomination, but he made it clear this week that he was not inclined to cede it to the better-known Hoeffel.
