Poll: Lieberman leads Democratic hopefuls
Joe Lieberman had the most support from Democratic voters in a national poll released Thursday, followed closely by Dick Gephardt, John Kerry and Howard Dean.

Lieberman, a Connecticut senator, was at 21% and Gephardt, a Missouri representative, was at 16% — just within the error margin of plus or minus 5 percentage points in the Quinnipiac University poll.

1. Where are all these Lieberman supporters?
Seriously, I'm yet to meet a single person who wants Joe Lieberman to be president. All the Dems and Independents I know are for Dean, Kucinich, or Kerry (and a few Gephardt supporters are in the mix).

Where is this alleged groundswell of Liebermania coming from? Is this a midwest vs. coastal phenomenon?

8. Your comment reminds of of the story of the Upper East Sider
who couldn't believe Nixon won the 1972 election. After all, everybody she knew voted for McGovern.

10. LOL. The people around here who think DU is the real world...
I love it, it's a fun place, but DU HARDLY represents the Democratic electorate.

3. no sense
Crazy but I didn't think the the nomination was decided in a national primary. So why do news agency and polling companies keep doing national polls? That makes no sense to me! Just a quick rant. I apologize!

7. DU'ers have been saying this for 7 months
Frankly, it's getting a little old. You're refusal to acknowledge that anyone who considers themselves a Democrat could support Lieberman for reasons other than pure name recognition is downright condescending. But what else is new.

4. Sorry to here this...
Lieberman is not a unifying candidate. He blindly supported the war in Iraq and still blindly defends Bush on this issue.
He even supported corporate tax cuts. Sorry Joe, I can't support you.

5. Lieberman leads due to name recognition nationally but in states
paying attention to a certain extent like Iowa and NH he is not doing as well as these national numbers would indicate. Also, the latest Field Poll in California indicated that Lieberman fell from first to third (statistically tied with Dean and Kerry in that pivitol state).

6. Lieberman's chances are going the way of the Dodo
into extinction. He dropped a full 8% points in California.

He hit his peak in Febuary because of name id, just like everyone said he had.

I like the guy...but sorry, he's finished.
