WYNN (D-MD) ENDORSES EDWARDS

(07/23/03) U.S. Rep. Albert Wynn of Maryland on Wednesday announced his endorsement of U.S. Sen. John Edwards' presidential bid.

"I am enthusiastically endorsing John Edwards for president," Wynn said in a statement. "He is deeply committed to the core principles of the Democratic Party: increasing access to healthcare, fighting for working families, protecting civil liberties, and expanding opportunities for minorities."

Wynn is an active member of the Congressional Black Caucus. Edwards addressed the group during the day Wednesday and attended a reception in the evening.

Edwards has also been endorsed by U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson of Texas, as well as the six Democrats in the North Carolina House delegation.

Edwards is working the black vote, and I think he is best positioned to get a substantial portion of it.
