up a certificate!]

There are four buses for the press and staff. I looked in each and picked the studious one where most people have their laptops out. I'm just that sort of guy,

Joe Trippi's son just came through with an assortment of potato chips.
I chose BBQ because it just looks so professional to have your fingertips and lips ringed with orange flecks.

I'm sitting next to Patsy Wilson from Reuters; she's got a White House press pass hanging from her bag. In front of me, Mario from the Getty Archive is editing some photos he's taken of the event: bring a face out of the shadows, turn up the contrast on a woman holding a Dean sign, upload it via a cellphone modem. Isn't technology amazing?

It's quite a collection of journalists. Maybe 30 of them. CNN. The NY Times. Reuters. C-SPAN, Newsweek. Fourteen months before the election. This must be what momentum feels like."

5. They chartered a 737 for the Tour...
His campaign really has their act together...450 people at an unannounced stop in Boise, Idaho!

The NY crowd is going to be huge!

What a beautiful day...

Are you watching this? Look at the crowd...some estimates are 5000...they love him!

Great song, too.

"We can"

Should be a feed from Seattle around 5:30 PDT.

"We Can"

Many people asked the name of the song played as Governor Dean left the stage in Falls Church, Virginia this afternoon. It's called "We Can," by Joanna. It's the official campaign song and a great song for the Sleepless Summer Tour. We can and will raise a million against Bush by the end of the Sleepless Summer Tour, and we can and will take our country back in November of 2004. The grassroots never sleeps!

They'll try to stop the dream we're dreamin'
But they can't stop us from believing
They will fill your head with doubt
But that won't stop us now
So let them say we can't do it
Put up a road block
We'll just run right through it.. Cause...

Heard the speech in Portland. Great! The crowd reminded me of a more East Coast crowd. They were loud and animated. The speech was great. I am so excited.

24. Just Came Back From It!
The venue was waaaay too small for the turnout, which is a good thing I s'pose. Dean mentioned 5000 as the rough count for turnout. People were spilling out into the streets. I didn't get to actually see him the way it was set up, but it was a hellova speech. Standard stump, modified to echo some of the stuff he said on CNN this morning. Two digs on Karl Rove (I wouldn't do them justice by paraphrasing, but hopefully they'll resurface).

Very Positive vibe! Lotsa dogs and kids there - different crowd from yer usual a Portland-Style political rally - especially in contrast to last Thursday when Dubya was in town with the Stormtroopers standing guard.

Not a whole lotta TV media there, but hopefully you can check it out on www.howarddean.tv OR www.oregonfordean.com
