4,000 attend Dean Rally in Falls Church, VA
From the Blog:

According to official police estimates, an incredible 4,000 people assembled at Cherry Hill Farm in Falls Church, Virginia to hear Governor Dean kick off the Sleepless Summer Tour!

As of 6 pm, 6,356 Americans have contributed $350,146.56 in our effort to Raise a Million against Bush!

Gov. Dean enters as U2's "Beautiful Day" plays. The crowd chants. Dean starts strong. After saying that the Sheriff estimates the crowd at 4,000, he says: "The president is sleeping comfortably in Crawford tonight. And while he's sleeping, we're going to take our country back."

I'm not going to blog his entire speech. But it's good. It's focused on issues, with plenty of jabs at Bush. But, more important, he's doing a good job of flipping the cliched expectations. For example, he warns us that the Republicans just don't know how to handle money: "Borrow and spend, borrow and spend." And he goes after the idea that the Republicans are tough on defense and Democrats aren't; "North Korea is about to become a nuclear power because President Bush won't sit down and talk with someone he doesn't like." He says that he won't hesitate to send American soldiers into battle but not without telling us the truth about why.

***********
Dean was also at the March on Washington...unfortunately, the pictures didn't turn out on the Blog. But apparently, he was at the Lincoln Memorial, met Coretta Scott King, John Lewis, and Eleanor Holmes Norton.

6. Falls Church has tons of liberals in it and nearby...

DC and it's surrounding areas are the most liberal parts of Virginia. It was a good plan to gather there.

5. In Virginia 4000? Impossible! It's only pre-Primary with 8 candidates
still running. Isn't Bobby Kennedy the only one to have these kinds of numbers show up in pre-Primary?

7. I saw Dean on c-span
He was seated on the stage with the other two Dem candidates who showed, CMB and Sharpton. He hit out early though (as did CMB) so he could get to the Falls Church rally.

I'm glad to see that Dean made it to the MLK event. I would have forgiven him if he was too busy setting the stage for the kickoff to Sleepless Summer, but he went anyway. The official blog is all over the Fall Church event with pictures now, btw... up to 367,000 raised so far.

those are spectacular crowds. I don't know if Bush would even do that well. Who says that Dean can't compete in the south?

15. Wealth buys plenty
See how much publicity a rich man can buy for his campaign? I guess, if you want to run for President, you gotta be a millionaire. You know, Limousine politician... Money to burn and plenty left over... Must be nice to be Dr. Dean.

I wonder if IBM helped to increase his wealth, too. You know, grease my palm, I'll grease yours...

18. Yep, you're right
We all be just Doctah Dean's army of zombie slaves.

We cannot think critically on this issue and don't have our own thought-out reasons based on individual conscience as the foundation for our support.

It is nice to know, however, that such bastions of purity as yourself still walk among us.

Incidentally, sarcasm aside, your link raises some good points (seriously). However, the language throughout is so biased and loaded, I don't think you're going to convince too many Dean supporters to change their mind.

19. Wait a minute, I'm confused now...
We all be just Doctah Dean's army of zombie slaves.

Obviously you wouldn't need to pay zombie slaves anything, so are all Dean supporters now hired help paid with money from IBM as claimed a little earlier here or are they zombie slaves? :+

21. Hey, even zombie slaves
still have a right in this country to organize and demand better pay. It's on Gov. Dean's website...one of his major planks, in fact. Do a search for "zombie".

:silly:

20. 150K and 7 people?
That is what Dean had to start with.

Again, $150,000 of cash, no political infrastructure, and 7 people.

or just enjoy shitting on their lawn?

it seems some people here can't be happy for anything.
p.s. "must be nice to be rich/limosine liberal"
the only one I've seen in a limo was Forbes Kerry,
but don't let that stop you from shitting on every lawn in town.
