What about the Congress?
What is it looking like Congress is going to do in 2004? Are we going to end up with a Republican Congress, even if we manage to get a Democratic President? And if so, who do we think is going to be able to work with that Congress the best?

1. My concern too.
We really need to get a majority in both Houses if we want to effect change. A Democratic President will be hamstrung with Republican legislatures in control. I'm sure that they will find their long lost appetite to take on the President and probably try to impeach him for alledgedly picking his nose in public.

A Democratic President could be the scapegoat which the Republicans can use to blame us for the 4 years of bad stewardship under this criminal fraud.

If we can't take control of Congress, how will the WH help? I'd almost rather let the Republicans keep it all and let the logical conclusions of their war on America play out so that they are completely bannished and discredited in 2008.

6. Amen.
That's why the top of the ticket is so important. We have to compete all over the country.

2. Good question
I suspect that Joe Scarborough's Rebublinazi replacement (Miller) for my area is running again. He'll play that "I support our troops" card as he hides behind the flag. He'll need to hide behind something, because he's going to be severely challenged on his stance regarding civil liberties, any reluctance in Congress to participate in cleaning Iraqi and our Troops' blood off his head when we challenge him on his pro-war stance and refusal to demand proof that there were any WMD's. We'll hit him with the, "Why is it wrong to lie about sex where the lie killed no one, but okay to defend lies that got a lot of people killed with more dying?"

Of course, he'll wrap himself in the flag...

Meanwhile, the fascist think-tank of that party has been cooking up ploys like redistricting. No doubt, they won't have to try so hard to come up with clever ways to commit election fraud. They need only to keep three sets of records on our votes and send in the doctored copies to the elections office in each county and state.

Really, before we get so obsorbed in the campaigns, we sincerely need to work on insuring a fair election and we need to fight Republican redistricting.

3. We work on it one district at a time
I was really upset that last time the Democrats in this area didn't even run a candidate against a weak opponant because this part of NW AR is considered a "safe" seat for the GOP. There's talk that a fine lady from Elkins named Jan Judy will run for the Dems, and she has a good shot at unseating John Boozman, who has consistantly voted the GOP line, including cutting veteran's benefits. This issue alone could cost him the election. There are a lot of vets around here, and a lot of people from the Guard and REserve overseas right now. I plan to work for Ms Judy if she announces her intention to run. I think that that is the best thing anyone can do if they want to have the Dems take back Congress.

5. I agree
We can't simply shrug off 200 districts as being Repuke. We have to realize that there are people in those 200 or so districts that want a change, that will vote for a change. Probably there are majorities of people in those districts who want a change, but just aren't given decent challengers.

I think that AR-3 is the prime example. Boozman is a politician with no political talent. A challenger with some support, some momentum, and some talent could beat him. I think that State Rep. Jan Judy could do this and I'm very pleased with this seat. (A word to those who would simply write this district off: Many people would've said that Rep. Felix Grucci was nearly unbeatable in 2002. Tim Bishop proved them wrong.)

7. The DNC should vow
that no Republican will go unchallenged.

I've told the story before of the Oregon state legislative district that was assumed to be locked up for the Republicans until a Socialist ran and got 20% of the vote. The next election, the Dems ran a candidate who took 45%. Two elections later, the same candidate won that district.

As ads for lotteries say, "You can't win if you don't play." :-)

8. Totally agree
There have been so many elections that were considered locked up (Sen. Rudy Boschwitz vs. Paul Wellstone in 1990) before the election, yet the Democrats pulled off the vote. If we can run good candidates in every election, we'd pick up a lot more seats than people realize.
