Clark to decide on Presidential run in "the next two to three weeks"
He said that this morning on CBS's The Early Show during an interview with Harry Smith. They showed clips from some "draft Clark" ads which are apparently running somewhere in the country.

Also had some harsh words for Bush's bumblings in Iraq, was talking about how we needed to get more help from the international community and include them. B-)

Too bad I only caught the tail end of the interview, sounds like it was a good one.

1. Why is the media giving Clark so much air time? I don't get it..
Don't get me wrong. I'm a Clarkie through and through. The media has been doing what they used to do before bushco. They act like they're promoting Clark like they did Clinton in 92...YET, we all know that they have been in bushco's pocket. What's up with this?

I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. I mean, it's great if the media has found one of our guys that they can get behind. But, it's vewy vewy stwange. :tinfoilhat:

2. The media
The media haven't been in BushCo's pocket, so much as they've been played big time by Karl Rove.

The biggest problems with American media aren't necessarily related to corruption or out and out purposeful bias (besides Faux), but rather a lack of attention, a herd mentality, and a willingness to be spoonfed.

The reason they jumped onto Ah-huld is because they thought it made a sellable story. Well, for better or worse, big American media is pretty bored by the primary race--there's Dean, which is kind of interesting for them since he's got the whole "he came out of nowhere" thing, but by himself, he's not that great of a story without a challenger.

Enter Clark. He's a Democratic general, so he already has the talking dog thing. They think his entry into the race would make a compelling, sellable story, so they're pushing it, just as they pushed McCain's candidacy, even though everyone knew that Bush had already been annointed by TPTB.

As Molly Ivins might put it, big American media wants Elvis, more than anything else. Sadly, they play up the Elvis so much sometimes the real issues get lost. But in this election, the point is to take out Bush, so I think a candidate with a lot of Elvis and the potential to get more media swooning than average might be a very good idea...

3. I agree that it's a bit odd...
I think that Clark's running, but I'm not sure exactly how he's going to do.

4. You know,
All Clark's damned tap-dancing about running or not has really begun to piss me off.

I actually like the man but this is just ridiculous and, worse, it makes me believe he's intentionally going to jump in specifically to be a Democratic "spoiler". All the hem-hawing and playing coy has turned me off him completely as a viable candidate.

6. Who would he be spoiling for/against?
To be a spoiler, you're not supposed to be able to win.

It seems like he has a pretty decent shot.

The tap-dancing might piss you off, but it gets the media to cover him, as well as his criticisms of Bush. And it's not as though big media is running too many serious critiques of Bush right now...

8. Interesting Statement
I have read enough of your posts to know you dislike Clark, but care to expound on how Clark would be Nader-like?

9. I think they meant
an affect similar to what Nader had, that of dividing votes that mioght have gone to another candidate who announced earlier.

10. Ok that's a valid point.
I admit being pretty biased, but even if Kucinich wasn't in the race, by now I'd be saying the same thing..."Dammit man, shit or get off the pot already!" Pardon the graphic language, but it was a saying my Grandparents used and it seemed to fit so well.

Again, I like Clark, and he may well have a valid shot at the nomination. That still doesn't excuse or explain the headgame. If it's for political gain....well then how is he doing anything better than Bush* & Co.?

He'd better serve the Party and himself by supporting a current candidate, and damned sure earn even more respect from me along the way.
