Kerry Hits All The Right Notes On North Korea
Next Step on Korea
By John Kerry
August 6, 2003

The Bush administration's reported decision to meet again with North Korean officials looks like a positive development. But the administration's erratic handling of the North Korean nuclear crisis over the past year leaves it little room for error. It first ignored the threat because it was preoccupied with Iraq, then played it down -- thus leading Pyongyang to think we would accept a nuclear North Korea -- then proposed a dialogue, but steadfastly refused to talk directly with the North Koreans.

All this served only to create confusion and put North Korea's despotic leader, Kim Jong Il, in the driver's seat. Now, finally, the administration is getting off the merry-go-round; the question is where we go from here.

5. Slander, defined.
slan·der ( P ) Pronunciation Key (slndr) n.

1. Law. Oral communication of false statements injurious to a person's reputation.

2. A false and malicious statement or report about someone.

I uttered no such false statement. I merely expressed my opinion that this "Trojan Horse" theory of yours is tinfoily. Furthermore, the correct way to wear the foil is like this:

11. Slander:
You know, it just occurred to me that a certain pundit accuses people who disagree with her of slander. Not a good roll-model, in my opinion.

7. Now look, Doc.
I know that this is a sore point and accept your feelings of regret for the IWR. But how can he claim that "It first ignored the threat because it was preoccupied with Iraq" when he helped enable that "preoccupation?"

Otherwise a strong piece.

10. Slanderous!
Really, that is one of the creepiest pictures I've ever seen.

All I can say is that history would have taken a radically different course if Kerry had been President. Each of us has to make their peace with the IWR. I've made mine, and I am not willing to defend Kerry's position anymore than I have.

The question is where we go from here.

12. We move forward.
I respect your position because you feel that Kerry's positives far outweigh the negatives of a few votes. That's fair and honest.

Now if we can just get the "My candidate is infallible and has never made a misstep" people to come along, we'd live in a much better world.

Moving forward, I'm officially off your back about the IWR.

And just for you:
