New Low: Cain Uses His Cancer Survival for Political Gains

Good politicians use real achievements for political gains. For example, Obama talked about his community organization and editing a prestigious Harvard Law Magazine.
Bad politicians use accidental things that happen to them for political gains. For example, John McCain has made his career out of being shot down and being a prisoner of war for five years, something he obviously had no control over.

Herman Cain has possibly reached a new low by using his survival of cancer in 2006 for political gain. Cain makes three major points about his survival - 1) It was a sign from his God wants him to be president, 2) It would not have happened under "Obamacare," and 3) It would not have happened under socialist Canadian and European health care systems. All of these are outrageous lies.

All of this is nonsense. Rather than being a holy sign that he was destined for the White House, one can just as well say that his God gave him cancer to warn him not to run for president. His chances of survival was better than 60% according to his surgeon and probably better than 70% given that he was being treated at one of the best cancer centers in the country. He was able to afford the best because he had full coverage from his private health insurance. President Obama's health care reforms did not affect private insurance. It was aimed at helping to insure the 50 - 100 million plus Americans who would have died or been rendered destitute from the type of cancer Cain had because they couldn't afford the $100,000 + operation and chemo-therapy. Also, survival rates for this type of cancer are equivalent in Canada and most European countries.

What is perhaps the worst part is that Cain started planning on using his cancer for political advantage within a week of learning of his cancer. He purposefully sort out a "Dr. Lord" for consultation on his cancer, so he could say that the Lord helped to cure him. This is a great example of madness and immorality going hand in hand.

5. I am no John McCain fan

(see his craven behavior on the Forestall) but he had the opportunity to be released as a political move from the North Vietnamese, since his dad was an Admiral, and he refused the chance.

What is interesting, these days, is why he does not play that up.
