GOP says "Uh oh!" as Dems win a former Republican House seat in NY
Edited on Wed May-25-11 05:50 AM by YewNork
Yesterday, Democrat Kathy Hochul, defeated Republican Jane Corwin and Tea Party Candidate Jack Davis for a seat in the House of Representatives. The seat has long been considered a Republican stronghold.

Hochul's political ads were mainly based on the fact that the Republicans voted to dismantle Medicare and that Corwin said she supports that idea.

So there we go, here's what 2012 will revolve around.

1. Opponents claim ads were misleading with half truths about Medicare Reform
Republicans complained that Hochul's ads were misleading and used half truths because they didn't tell seniors that the Republican plan doesn't take away THEIR Medicare, it only affects people under age 55.

Well, Republicans, let's just say this - When it comes to half truths and misleading ads about health reforms, payback's a b*tch.

2. More proof that Republicans have no souls. Do they think that we don't...
...care about future generations? They apparently don't care, but dammit we do!!!

4. people are selfish. they only care about themselves. i think they thought
that seniors wouldn't care as long as they still had their medicare. And that younger people wouldn't care because they don't think that far ahead. they were wrong.

3. that's hilarious since republicans ran an ad claiming that hochul was the one
that wanted to get rid of medicare and showed a clip where she said everything was on the table. even the local news fact checked it and said it was completely false. i don't think anyone was fooled. i still stand by it... corwin was her own worst enemy. she was a terrible candidate and really had no defense of the medicare issue. really.... it only effects people under 55??? people who will someday NOT be under 55??? fucking idiots!!

6. I think present Seniors know that if they become "special"...
That it will be easy for the rest of us to be manipulated into taking their "privileges" away. Look at what's happening with public worker pensions, they play the "why should they have benefits when I don't?" game constantly. Same if only older seniors get medicare.

5. Hmmm, imagine that
there's still some juice going through that 3rd rail.

Corwin shoulda made sure the power was disconnected before reaching in to help dunk medicare in Norquist's bathtub.

Shocking result in NY 26.

8. This is great news.
I'm sure that the republicans will adjust their campaign lies for the 2012 race based on this outcome. Hopefully the Democrats can adjust to the new set of lies.

11. The good part is that their votes to kill Medicare are history
If they change their minds then we get to call them flip floppers.
