It's a tough one to answer. I hate to even think about the U.S. torturing somebody, but I could see how in some cases it could work.

2. If torture worked, all one would have to do is torture and get all the information we needed.

Then attack terrorist at that point, torture them for more information, and so on. Terrorism would be ended in a month. Obviously, torture doesn't work or terrorism would have stopped a long time ago.

Why is detaining OBL without a jury trial and subjecting him to mild discomfort during interrogation a bad thing?
