Harris take slight lead over Cooley in CA AG race
as of November 12, 2010, 4:19 p.m.

Kamala D. Harris (Dem) 4,044,927 45.9%

Steve Cooley (Rep) 4,039,351 45.8%

She's made up a lot of ground over the past few days, coming back from almost 50,000 votes behind at one point

1. This will be so great if she wins. She's the future, coily is the past.
Do you know when the counting will be finished? If it's this close, will there be an automatic recount?

I'd like to see Harris win of course, but getting coily out of office will be a pleasure.

3. Counties have 31 days after the election

to have their counts completed and reported to the SOS. That means all votes will not potentially be counted until Dec 3, 2010, and the SOS has 7 days after that to certify the results.

I'm not sure whether CA has automatic recounts or not, might have to be either court ordered or voter/candicate requested.

unfortunately. But the ratio now seems to be about 500k ballots to be counted in (D) counties and 400k in (R) ones.
