My time to rant...sorry.
We say this election is about issues. For us it is, but for half of the mainstream Americans, it is not. It is about only one issue...religion. The Republican base is a solid conservative, right-wing theocracy. And that poses a threat to this country far greater than any terrorist. A theocratic country is not a free country. It is a country governed by those who would invade our schools, our homes, and our bodies to create an atmosphere of exclusion instead of inclusion. Those who hunger for this power create a following through fear of religious retribution,hell-fire/damnation, and their holier-than-thou persona. That is made obvious by their "do as I say, not as I do" walk in life. And make no mistake about it, it's working.
The Republicans say leave Palin's family out of the campaign, the implication being that good people wouldn't do otherwise. Then she parades the children around in front of all who would see like there's no tomorrow. HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH IT?
They say don't touch the pregnancy issue because it's private, again implying that good people wouldn't talk about it. Then they make public references to it to show how forgiving they can be and how Christian they are. Again something for their own political purposes. HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH IT?
They talk about service to America to show how giving and self-serving they as good people are and then denigrate the very people who actually have served America in this forum. HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH IT?
They claim their party is ready to protect and defend us, that their VP choice can step in at a moment's notice as president if needed, but has to sequester her away so she can be indoctrinated before meeting with the press. HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH IT?
They say that their party will do what's best for us by stopping the drain of money through earmark legislation. Yet Palin's Alaska has received millions and millions of dollars worth of pork barrel projects...some even supported by McCain. HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH IT?
They say they will support special needs children/families and the country praises them for being the kind of people who will do that. And yet both McCain (on the national level) and Palin(on the state level) have cut spending for the very programs which help the disabled. HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH IT?
They fill us with fear of national attacks and wars to be fought "over there instead of over here" but won't fund the troops with adequate gear to protect them and keep them safe and won't create funding to take of the veterans when they come back home. HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH IT?
I'll tell you. They get away with it because the majority of Americans are not reading or fact-finding about what's really at stake. The common person on the street or at the mall doesn't even know what the issues are. They just simply only care about seeing Palin hold that precious baby, McCain talk about his horrendous time in a POW camp, and pray at night that their daughters don't get pregnant. The issues for them don't matter. They see a black man running against these sad, but good people. A black man who their neighbors say doesn't believe in "our" same kind of god. They think he has a funny name that sounds scary and that makes him dangerous. They see a "war hero" who deserves to paid back for doing what their own people say is our "duty". They wave the flag and say "Let's put country first" but instead clearly place country second to their religious dogma. This is NOT about the issues...this is about the common man. If we want to do what is best for this country, we must get out into the mainstream and talk about the issues wherever we go. Get your facts straight, learn how to talk effectively without being overbearing, and let's turn this election into what it should be....hope for the future of our children to make this country great again.

2. He thinks that protects his own family, but he is wrong.
What protects his family is having good kids who don't screw up.

5. I bet over the last 18 months there have probably been many who said Obama was wrong,
but he seems to have done pretty well for himself, though.

7. I was upset when he skated through the end of the primaries.
Which in the end might do him in as it exposed his vulnerabilities in campaigning against women.

I hope he can find his way around it. He might be smart enough, but not cut throat enough.

4. Thanks
Actually all the repugs have said it...after Obama said it first. They can't even be original in their responses. :)

3. You are 100% correct.
We can vote on issues, but when we fight, we need to be on that other plane that the rest of the country is on.

I'm not sure if its religious, but it certainly isn't based on running the country properly.

6. They get away with it
because they are masters of hypocrisy and denial. The always re-define whatever it is to benefit themselves and make the rest of us look bad, or like idiots, or like we're in the wrong.

And they don't often enough get called on it.

8. Gay folks have been feeling the knives,
from this bunch of hypocrites and liars for years and years now.
We are sick of it and have been trying to get the rest of our fellow
citizens to listen up and take note because we are only the first
that the theo-fascists vilify , remember the talk of putting
hiv/aids patients in lock ups?
