Rachel Maddow just said, "Why would Barack Obama pick Hillary
for anything?" Maybe not exactly, but I got her gist. Why indeed?

1. His message is that we need to change the politics of the past
we need to change things in Washington D.C.

How in the world would he stay on that message if the ticket is Obama/Clinton ?

2. If Hillary is VP
Obama had better wear a bullet-proof vest 24/7.

3. Hi, sister
Why he wouldn't - it would label Obama as just another politician for "making a deal to win."

It's in interesting dilemma.

6. He cannot do that. I agree. His 'class' trumps hers, in so many
ways. Elitist be damned. :hi:

14. I think there are more than a few out there who share your opinion

I think Obama is a quiet guy but he's got "a list" and she's tied at the top with hubby.

He won't do it. If they try to force him and he makes a big deal out of saying no, people will
love it.

7. One could have made the same argument when Kennedy picked Johnson to be Veep
LBJ hated the Kennedy's and he did carry some baggage.

But, he also carried a lot of pluses: access to donors, supporters, an apparatus that might not have supported Kennedy without Johnson as an active member in the campaign.

Clinton has the support of roughly 45% of the Democrats in the country. That's a lot of people.

8. I know that. Times are different now vs. the 60s. I trust that Obama will
pick the person who would be the most responsive to his ideals. Or, I can hope.

9. As far as the big guns it will be interesting to see who he looks at

HRC has pluses and minuses. We can rehash all those, but it would be an exercise in repetition.

Edwards: Already said no. His wife's cancer came back, so I think he's finished.

Richardson: After his poor performance on Larry King when he debated about the BO and HRC with James Carville, he's probably off the board. He looked like a deer in the headlights.

Feinstein and Boxer are both no's. Regardless of what william safire thinks. They're no's if for no other reason than Arnold is the governor.

Sebellius maybe: She carries HRC's ability to appeal to moderate voters that might be put-off by the primary. I'm just not sure about losing the Gov seat in KS. But if it's a choice between
having the White House or the Kansas Statehouse I'll take the White House.

I can't think of any NE politicians that would be a good match. Regardless of what polling says now, McCain will not win anything north of Pennsylvania.

Scweitzer of Montana is a possibility.

I'm kind of stumped as to a good fit. If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them. I live overseas and so I'm not as knowledgeable about possibilities from state level politicians.

13. Why must he 'pick' a woman? Because of Clinton? I'm not buying
that argument. He's got a whole host of people to choose from, not only women.

see how gracious your gal can be.
