Graham continues to attract voters
Bob Graham will be hosting a Bluegrass Concert in Roanoke (Virginia) on Wednesday July 16. Rural Virginians, who tend to be more conservative but overwhelmingly supported Democrat Mark Warner for Governor in November 2001, will not be ceded by Bob Graham, and should not be ceded by any Democrat. Bob Graham will continue to focus on rural voters who would be willing to vote for a Democrat should we put up a quality candidate, just as Bill Clinton did in his victories in Montana, Kentucky, West Virginia, and other primarily rural states. Other Democrats should follow Graham's lead.

1. Are you going to vote Democrat?
Edited on Thu Jul-10-03 01:43 PM by revcarol
I'm going to vote DEMOCRATIC.

Graham not only wanted to go to war in Iraq, but also Syria, Iran and take down the whole region (if Bush hasn't alreaqdy started this.) Sorry, NO SALE.

I will listen to him on homeland security, but IMHO, this is almost the ONLY issue on which he has credibility.

Edit: and I am rural.

2. LIES, LIES, LIES, LIES, LIES!
Graham wanted to go after terrorists in those countries. Not the populations or governments.

6. same problem as other candidates
Trapped in trust of a fake President. Certainly not alone there and the others do not have the outsider luxury of Dean. But this shows he may continue to enrich Carlyle and BFEE to advance questionable aggressive cures for terrorism.

ANY Dem know the score yet? The terrorists are SITTING in OUR WH! And even if you can't tell the people that I am certainly convinced many Dem Congressmen(certainly a lot of semi-decent GOP too)don't get the real dangers.

7. What, is Dean saying we shouldn't do anything about terrorists?
This comment puzzles me. Graham's emphasis on homeland security has been in the areas of increased port security (such as checking contents of containers) decent funding and training for first responders, and addressing terrorist training camps in Syria and Lebanon.

Not sure what different Dean would do? Nothing? That's not gonna go down well with very many Americans.

3. Graham didn't want war in Iraq
he wanted to go after terrorists and countries that harbor terrorists

Syria is a legitimate target. They sponsor terrorism. I have yet to hear him say anything about Iran.

4. Pardon me, but uh...why did he vote against going to war with Iraq then?
http://www.grahamforpresident.com/issues/security.html

In October 2002, Bob Graham voted against the resolution to authorize the use of force against Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq. Graham argued that the war on terrorism should be our nation's highest priority because international terrorist networks -- including al Qaeda, Hezbollah and Hamas -- pose a greater threat to Americans at home and U.S. interests abroad than did Saddam Hussein.

Please get your facts straight before posting. It is not helpful to disseminate inaccurate information about any candidate.

5. "Take down the whole region" right
He didn't want to invade Iraq and as another post said he never said Iran was a target. He was for finishing up Afghanistan before anything else, and then if diplomacy didn't work, try to apprehend Hezbollah in Syria. PERIOD. Afghani-based terrorists committed 9-11 as we know, and Hezbollah admitted to Saudi Arabia-based attacks of Americans over there. So what's the problem with apprehending them?

And no credibility on just about any other issue, huh? Okay, so it was his drug benefit bill that received a majority (52) votes in the Senate last year, and it is he who started Save the Everglades as Governor of FL, and it is he who has expanded Medicare coverage to include breast and colon cancer screenings, and it is he who lobbied to get a Florida Constitutional Amendment on the ballot last November to reverse Jeb's decentralization of the Florida State University System.

Lastly, I never said all rural Democrats will be voting for Graham, I said all 9 Dems ought to pursue rural Dems. Glad to know you're a rural Dem! I don't care who you vote for, but it'd be best if you at least understood who Graham is and what his record actually shows. His record is actually more liberal than he would even admit, he is no Zell Miller by any means. A vote for Graham is a vote for a true Democrat just as a vote for Dean, Kerry, etc., is a vote for a true Democrat.

8. Graham opposed the Iraq war
He voted against the resolution authorizing force and said that he wanted to go after terrorists in these countries, not their governments and certainly not the people. He is a credible voice on security issues and the Democrats need this in 2004 if they want to win!!!
