Kucinich: A ‘long-distance runner’

<snip>

MANCHESTER - Dennis Kucinich entered his crowded campaign office - which smelled like Crock-Pot bean fajitas and sounded like a Vermont music festival - a little past 9 p.m. on Tuesday night. Standing on a small platform, he took off his shoe and held it over his head.

"This is the second stop on a long-distance run," he said, "and this is the shoe of a long-distance runner."

A crowd of 200 supporters cheered - everyone from the man wearing a blue "No War" sweat shirt to the honeymooners dressed in matching blue-velvet vests and red-and-white striped pants, to the supporter in an Uncle Sam outfit complete with flashing patriotic top hat.

After exclaiming that he’s going all the way to the Democratic convention, where he said he expects to win the presidential nomination, Kucinich held a moment of silence for the six soldiers who were killed in Iraq on Tuesday.

A big thank you to Dennis, for staying in the race and giving me, and many like me, someone we can vote FOR.

2. I like Dennis but ...

First he was a Sea Biscuit, a sprint horse. Now he's a long distance runner.

Will he be a Clydsdale next?????

;-)

3. Since it's a metaphor, he's all three
He's the distance runner that won't give up.
He's the skinny, unimpressive longshot that will surprise everyone.

And he's the Clydesdale that's carrying on his strong shoulders --he's got that really strong spine, you know-- the hopes of the world for a good tomorrow.

4. Actually,
Dennis can go the distance. And so could Seabiscuit.

Seabiscuit beat War Admiral at a 1 3/16.

He won the Scarsdale handicap, which is 9 furlongs.

He won the Bay Meadows Handicap, at 1 1/16.

He won the Hollywood Gold Cup, at 1 1/4.

5. Kucinich is a real statesman!
Kucinich is the only mainstream candidate that I can really feel good about voting for....
