FRIDAY THE 13th
PROTEST THE BUSH FUNDRAISER

Yes, you have heard correctly, President Bush will visit the exclusive Bellevue enclave of Medina, WA on Friday, August 13th. The $2,500.00 per plate fundraiser ($5,000.00 for a picture with the President) is being hosted by Mr. William "Gary" Reed Jr. (7777 Overlake Drive, Medina,WA 98039). Mr. Reed sits on the boards of Microsoft, Washington Mutual and The Seattle Times.

We, loose-knit group of activists, are planning a welcome of our own! The tentative location of the anti-Bush rally will be the Medina Elementary School, 8001 NE 8th Street, Medina, WA 98039. This is tentative because the Secret Service has yet to contact the Medina Chief of Police. However, we have!

Chief Jeff Chen will meet with us on Tuesday, August 10th at 11am. We will also hold another planning session after meeting with the Chief. To quote Chief Jeff Chen, "You have a God-given right to protest the President and I'm going to see to it that you do".

We will have a website up shortly. We are re-activating last years' website "stopbushseattle.com". We are working on a flyer. We do not have a specific time of the event yet. We hope to have this information on or before our August 10th meeting with the Police Chief. Bush has just added a Portland stop to his itinerary, so, we have to play it by ear...

At this time, I am the point of contact, however, I am asking that groups organize yourselves. This is just a "coming together" of everyone, gay, straight, black, white, young, old...I am only motivated to have our voices heard and for us to be as close to the President as possible and as comfortable as possible...
WE SAY NO TO "FREE SPEECH ZONES"! We will not be intimidated by the Secret Service! We are being pro-active in our discussions with the Medina Police Chief. We will not be made to be "out of sight, out of mind". We will need volunteers to help make banners. We will need volunteers to hold banners. I will keep you informed every day as the rally develops...
