INDIANAPOLIS
A Week Against War is a series of events and actions planned by local peace groups to empower as many voices as possible to speak up against the war in Iraq, continued corporate dominance of the political system, massive funding cuts for social services and the Bush administration's efforts to criminalize dissent.
Thursday, March 18: Take Back The Night March, at 7 p.m. at the Star Fountain on the campus of Butler University, 4600 Sunset Blvd.
A march to demand a safe city for all women and that
the perpetrators of sexist violence--the batterers,
the rapists, the murderers--be held responsible for
their actions and be made to change.
Friday, March 19: Solidarity Books Benefit Show, 8 p.m. at the Old Centrum, 12th St. and Central Ave.
Featuring: Akasha (an up and coming local jam band),
Audible Thought (awesome conscious hip hop), and
Bowels of Judas (talented and aggressive rock). Come
early (8 pm) for treats and movie-watching.
Saturday, March 20: Demonstration against the Occupation and for peace in
the Middle East, 1 p.m. at the intersection of Massachusetts Ave., College Ave. and St. Clair St.
This will be the best chance for people in
Indianapolis to express their anger with Bush's policy
of war abroad and cut-backs in social spending at
home. Come with signs, banners, noisemakers, etc.
There will be a megaphone available for anyone who
would like to speak out.
