If I had just a little more time in my life, I could probably carry out most of the daily tasks myself. Alas, I am working two jobs right now, and my life is pretty wrapped up in both of them for the time being. That won't always be, as I may be able to drop one of them this Fall. But it is an election year, and I think it is important that we try and rally the progressive cause in our state.
If you're like me, you've probably observed the Buckeye State's steady slide into obscurity. Our economy is in the tank, health care and tuition costs are skyrocketing, our schools are crumbling, and yet the only issue our very own version of "Dubya-for-Governor," Bob Taft, and the GOP-dominated state legislature can act on in a hurry is Gay Marriage? What the heck is wrong with this picture? They can pass a law to discriminate against someone in a heartbeat, and yet they can't even lift a finger to fix funding for Ohio's schools, a problem condemned time and again by the State Supreme Court.
I could easily go on about the sorry state of our state-level Ohio Democratic Party, but I think it's better to get to the point of this post. Basically, what I need at this time to really make this site fly are editors and contributors to create (and in some cases, gather) and post content. We, as Democrats, Liberals and Progressives of Ohio must work together if we are going to move our state forward in this new century. Organizing, fostering debate and activism are all key to taking back our state government, and that's what I hope that we can do together through this website.
Please note, that this is in no way a challenge to Democratic Underground, or other, similar, national Democratic websites. Except for specific national and international issues that affect us, this project is 95% about Ohio. I look at this project as a piece in the larger picture of a broad, liberal/progressive movement to move our country forward.
At any rate, if you are serious about taking back our state, IM me, or else feel free to post below.
