By Any Means Necessary: America's Tactics in the War on Terror at UCR(screening of The Response)

Description
The Response is an award-winning courtroom drama exploring the trial of a suspected enemy combatant, based on actual transcripts of the Guantanamo Bay military tribunals. Following the 30-minute film screening, a panel of speakers will discuss the issues. Confirmed Speakers include:

>> Sig Libowitz, Actor,Film Executive, Writer and Director of "The Response."

>> Tom Parker, Policy Director for Terrorism, Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights, Amnesty International

>>Nambji Good, Director of the Counter Terror with Justice Campaign for Amnesty International

>>Muhamad Ali, Professor of Religious Studies at UC Riverside and scholar of Islam

The event is sponsored by Amnesty International, in collaboration with:

UCR Amnesty Student Group
Inland Empire Amnesty Chapter
Muslim Student Association at UCR

This event is FREE and refreshments will be provided.

- Winner of the 2009 American Bar Association's Silver Gavel Award for Best in Drama & Literature;
- One of 10 semi-finalists for the 2010 Oscar for Best Short Film (Live Action);

- Winner of the Special Jury Prize at the DC Shorts Film Festival;
- Finalist at the USA Film Festival in Dallas.
