It seems to me it would help if we could agree on a few impt. topics for threads, publicize them here on DU, encourage all info on those topics to be posted in those threads, and KEEP THOSE THREADS KICKED.

One possible topic: Examples or reports of help refused or turned back.

Another: Info refuting efforts to shift blame from Feds to Gov. Blanco, Mayor Nagin or other local officials.

Another: Info re- comparison of response to Katrina to response to prior disasters.

Another: Info re- PRE-Katrina negligence (i.e., ignoring requests for aid to reinforce levees, eviscerating FEMA, etc.)

These are just some ideas. I'm just a bit frustrated that I've compiled some info on one of these topics and found myself posting it again and again in response to new posts by folks who were apparently unaware of info previously posted. And from the other side, esp. with search function down, I've also been frustrated when I know I've seen info somewhere but can't find it--e.g., I know I've seen a thread compiling reports of help refused or turned back, but I have no idea where it is now.

2. Timeline

I'm currently working on putting together a Katrina timeline in a "Wiki" type format. Anyone is welcome to ad or update as needed. To be honest this may be the best way to do this as it's getting too big for one person to handle.
