3. I got the call as well
But have yet to see the ink. The call came today, maybe sunday if I'm lucky.

Maybe You should start a poll to track this -

My ltte went nowhere, I have not heard or read a thing.
I got the call, but it's been a week and still no ink
My ltte was published online but not in print.
My ltte was printed but not posted online.
My ltte was published online and in the paper.
My ltte was published online and printed so many times I lost count.

or something to that effect

I agree with your idea that we should track this somehow.

7. No known hits on DALLAS MORNING NEWS yet...
...but they acknowledged today that they received more letters about Karl Rove this week than on any other topic, and the letters are split half-and-half on whether Rove should face the music over Valerie Plame.

13. I won't know until Wednesday....
I usually email my letters into the local editor. She called before printing the first one (and admitted being a Democrat herself) but after that she hasn't called to confirm - she just prints them. So, I'll know Wednesday when the paper comes out and will report back (very small weekly paper).

16. Delaware-I made it into the Sunday paper (although they made stupid edits)
My LTTE was printed today - Sunday paper = best exposure so I'm glad. I'm just not sure why they felt they had to change the title and the paragraphing. I think mine was much more effective - what do you think? Aside from spelling, grammar and shortening edits, I think they should try to leave our letters as original as possible.

What I sent:

ROVE SHOULD BE FIRED THIS TIME TOO -

In 2003 the White House assured America that Karl Rove, the senior adviser to the president, never discussed CIA operative Valerie Plame with members of the media. Last week we saw proof that Mr. Rove was actually a major player in that act of treason.

Those of us who may remember the politics of 1992, might also recall that Karl Rove was fired from the 1992 re-election campaign of George Bush Sr. Why? For allegedly leaking a negative story about Bush loyalist and fundraiser Robert Mosbacher to the very same Robert Novak involved in the Plame leak.

George W. Bush promised to fire any individuals involved in the Plame Affair. If Karl Rove has committed a crime, which will be up to investigators to decide, he has threatened the national security of the United States and must face the fullest consequences of the law. But for now, President Bush should make good on his promise and fire Karl Rove.

=====================================
What they printed:

This is not the first time that Rove leaked to Novak

In 2003 the White House assured America that Karl Rove, the senior adviser to the president, never discussed CIA operative Valerie Plame with members of the media. Last week we saw proof that Mr. Rove was actually a major player in that act of treason.

Those of us who may remember the politics of 1992 might also recall that Karl Rove was fired from the 1992 re-election campaign of George Bush Sr. Why? For allegedly leaking a negative story about Bush loyalist and fund raiser Robert Mosbacher to the very same Robert Novak involved in the Plame leak.

17. You know what? Their title change actually set me up for slander charges!
It's a definitive statment that I never made in my original letter.

Now I have to write the editor in chief to complain about ill-educated editors. (Again.)

20. Mine got into the Boston Herald
It's the first time I got a LTTE published. Maybe it's because I skipped the Boston Globe and instead responded to the ridiculous editorial they had defending Rove. Much less competition there.

Since I don't subscribe to the Herald I didn't even know it got published until a neighbor called.

24. Exactly the same thing with my paper.
The Lake Charles American Press only runs public opinion pieces on Sunday, and when they do they run the most pointless and stupid stories. One in todays was about what a hurricane museum would display. Another was about how Saint's owner Tom Benson is "laughing all the way to the bank." Then there was one about nursing homes and the others were concerning local city issues. Two of the articles were written by members of local committes. None of the editorials concerned Plamegate, and maybe one out of 6 was under 250 words. Fucking ridiculous!

39. In a newspaper
I do not respond well to info mining in an open to the public forum by people I really don't know.

If I want info which can absolutely peg my identity out there in cyper-space, I will do it when I want, not in answer to a question from someone I do not know. Hope you can understand.

There's a reason I use a screen name and not my own online. Hope many can see there are reasons for such sensitivity.

peace,
hm

My "don't cry for Judith Miller" letter. It was poorly edited and removed my request for any federal source protection bills to differentiate between protecting a whistleblower and protecting a traitor..

But it did leave in my making the distinction.
