Ask Congress to renounce claims to Iraq's oil and oil region hegemony
As Greg Palast discovered, the one plan the Bushies had for the occupation of Iraq was to privatize everything and sell it off, especially the oil. General Jay Garner, the first person Bush sent to run the country, correctly predicted that this would lead to rebellion. While they seem to be backing away from privatization, they are still treating Iraq's oil like their personal property.

Since our elected officials seem unwilling to withdraw our troops now that Iraq has had elections, we could reduce the ferocity of the resistance by renouncing any claim to Iraq's oil, and making it clear that once our troops leave, the Iraqis will be free to choose for themselves who pumps their oil and on what terms.

Further, the whole neocon project of dominating the Persian Gulf and Caspian Sea oil regions has led Russia, China, and a coalition of former Soviet republics where we currently have bases to demand a time table for the withdrawal of our troops from those countries, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

The Bush administrations intransigence in these areas could lead to World War III, not over ideology but business, and the oil business is not sharing the profits with us.

I don't want my tax dollars and the lives of American troops sacrificed for an empire that will not benefit the average American. Congress should reject the plan to militarily or otherwise dominate and intimidate the oil producing regions in the Persian Gulf and Caspian Sea Basin.

We should demand that our elected representatives pass a resolution making these two policies binding on the president. There will be little incentive to continue the occupation if they can't loot Iraq's oil or use Iraq as a base for to invade others.

1. We are there to fight them there rather than here: claims to Iraq's oil
and oil region hegemony are the furtherest things on the neocons' minds, for keeping us safe is what this is all about.

2. you're kidding right? Did your read Rebuilding America's Defenses
or the Baker report on oil?

The neocon patter is just PR for a pro-corporate agenda, in this case, oil corporations.

You have an administration full of defense contractors and oil executives. Do you think after decades of overthrowing governments and supporting dictators to get their hands on oil, that they suddenly got religion and care about human rights and our safety just because of 9/11?

Or is it more likely that it gave them a very convenient excuse to do what they wanted to do anyway?

And apart from that simple logic, they have admitted and Palast has found the government documents, and the oil company players who invited to help plan the whole thing.

5. oh good. I think that propaganda is starting to wear thin, and if we dare
to say the real agenda out loud and directly connect the dots, when people see the two stories side by side, it will be pretty obvious which is more credible.
