1. question for you bearfan54
Do you know if Kerry's speech is going to be free to the public?

Although I am currently supporting Dean, I am open to listening to all candidates and will support whomever wins the nomination. I went to hear Dick Gephardt too. Anyway when I heard about this event and looked it up I noted that the registration fee is a whopping $625, which is not anything close to being affordable. I can't volunteer for the Kerry campaign since I want Dean to win the nomination but I want to hear him. If you hear about any events he might do for free or for a more reasonable amount while he's in Austin, please post them to DU. Good luck to you and your team at the event.

Here's the registration page for the 2003 NCLR Annual Conference

2. Kerry speaks at La Raza, criticizes Bush record
http://www.boston.com/dailynews/194/region/Kerry_speaks_at_La_Raza_critic%3A.shtml
Kerry, one of the early front-runners for the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination, was a guest speaker at the annual conference of the National Council of La Raza, a Hispanic advocacy group. Howard Dean, another candidate, was scheduled to address the group on Monday. The presence of two Democratic contenders at the Texas convention could be an indication of how influential the Hispanic vote will be in the election.
(snip)
"There's one American in the United States that deserves to be laid off, and that's George W. Bush, and we're going to do it," Kerry said as the mostly Hispanic crowd cheered.
