Does anyone here do GOTV in an Election Day Registration state?

I did a bunch of GOTV last year and since then I have become increasing interested in getting a same-day voter registration law passed in my state. Seems like it would be a wonderful tool for local activists trying to get out the vote. Imagine not having to re-connect with voters months after you register them to vote. Just take them straight to the polls with appropriate ID, and bammo, you got a voter. Bliss.

But I am interested to hear some stories from the trenches. Did you manage to increase turnout? Were there any pitfalls? That kind of thing.
