Thirteenth Street, Wilmington, DE.
William Rivers Pitt is a political analyst with the Institute for Public Accuracy and a Senior Writer for truthout.org, an Internet news and opinion site. He is the author of the New York Times best seller, War on Iraq: What Team Bush Doesn’t Want You to Know, and his most recent book, The Greatest Sedition is Silence: Four Years in America, was just published this spring. He will be signing both books after his talk.
During his lecture he will discuss the current state of American politics, focusing on the PATRIOT Act and the status of American liberty, the attacks of September 11th, Enron and the economy, the Iraq war, the U.S. media, divisions within the progressive community, and a blueprint for a new American activism.
William Rivers Pitt spent the last several years as an educator and a Dean, teaching high school courses in World History, English Literature, Journalism, Writing, and Grammar. Determined to play his part in a democracy that requires informed involvement, Pitt has placed himself at the forefront of critical political and social analysis in the 21st century. According to him, “At no point in American history have the unique and fundamental underpinnings of American democracy been more at peril. …the dream that is America stands in mortal danger.”
