10 arrested in anti nuclear demo (3/10 - Scotland)

Police have arrested 10 protesters who used a mock submarine to stage an anti-nuclear demonstration outside the Scottish Parliament.

Some 15 campaigners, including Socialist MSP Rosie Kane, brought traffic to a halt for most of Thursday.

They set up camp inside the 25ft silver-painted plastic structure at the foot of the Royal Mile, outside Holyrood's staff entrance and in view of the media tower. However, police later moved in, arresting 10 people. The rest of the protesters disbanded.

1. Cool. That was a big issue when I was a kid.

Of course, with Glasgow being only a few miles from both the Royal Navy nuclear base at Faslane and the US Navy nuclear base at the Holy Loch, it was a very serious matter in the 1980's. I'm glad to see that it still is.
