The Vote For Change Artists
I'm watching my tape of the Vote For Change Grand Finale concert and remembering how great it was to be there that night. I had this very strong feeling that everything was going to be all right no matter what because there were these wonderful artists willing to speak out. It was also an unbelievable feeling to be surrounded by tens of thousands of people that "get it". Young and old, hippies and preppies and yuppies, middle class and upper class and working class-I looked around me and saw America and I was proud. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to watch this tonight, and it is very sad, but it's so great I can't help but smile, too.

Anyway, why am I posting this in the events and activism forum? I just wanted to remind everyone to continue to support these artists. With Christmas coming up, it is a great time to show them that it is never wrong to speak up and that we appreciate all that they did. I'm doing the "starve the beast" campaign as much as possible this year but one thing I am definitely buying, and asking for, is music by these artists.

REM
Pearl Jam
Bruce Springsteen
Bonnie Raitt
John Fogerty
Dave Matthews Band
John Mellancamp
Dixie Chicks
James Taylor
Keb Mo
Jurrasic 5
Tim Robbins
John Prine

There is such a wide range of artists that there is probably something appropriate for almost anyone on your list. Also, please remember and support Linda Ronstadt, Jon Bon Jovi, U2 and, last but not least, Michael Moore. (The CD "Songs And Artists That Inspired Farenheit 9/11 is fantastic.)

Let me know if I forgot anyone. Maybe we could start a "Feed The Truth" campaign.

3. I just noticed ...
that I forgot Jackson Browne. Definitely one of my favorites and he has a fairly new "Best Hits" CD that looks excellent.
