Here is my in-laws gift (posted on another thread, repeat for those who missed it) I like the holiday package offered by method home products:

1. Democracy Is Coming Cafepress shop
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 01:14 PM by Tesibria
at www.cafepress.com/tesibria

INCLUDES T-shirts, mugs and more with ...
  • Proud Member of the Moral Minority
  • Hitler Had a Mandate
  • Blueberry in bowl of tomato soup (for those lone democracts surrounded by RED at Thanksgiving dinner)
  • Counting the vote (Stalin Quote: Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything)
  • Support Bush? Enlist! Put your life where your mouth is

  • and other great quotes.

All proceeds go to buy PROGRESSIVE books and magazines for small town library in a blood-red county.

See http://tesibria.typepad.com/democracy_is_coming/ for more details about the reason I created the shop.

Buy them from charities. Often 100% of the profits go to the charity.

    9. Freecycle.org or small antique stores
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 12:58 PM by fudge stripe cookays
I LOVE Freecycle since I found it! You either offer or take something form someone, and it's completely free. It recycles stuff so it doesn't end up in landfills. (www.freecycle.org)

Alternately, shop at small hole in the wall antique stores for treasures that are one of a kind. A favorite toy that your brother used to have that you found again, a beautiful antique copy of a favorite book, a beautiful linen tablecloth....

Antique stores are where it's at. Especially if they're in blue states!

    10. Got My Oscar Dress At Out Of The Closet Thrift Store...
I suspect it was a bridesmaid's dress but, it's so pretty and it looks like the bridesmaid had a falling out with the bride or something cuz tags still on -- $180 dress for $15!

It's navy blue crepe off the shoulder thing... and once I shorten it & alter the bottom of it...it will lose it's wedding vibe.

My hub is rank and file, non-rich non-famous Academy members and we sit in the cheap balcony seats -- so I don't have to worry about Joan Rivers saying "WHO ARE YOU WEARING!" HA...

    11. I LOVE deals like that!
Another reason I'm dieting so furiously. Antique dresses are SO cool, but they don't fit zaftig chicks like me!

And I love the little jeweled 1950s sweater sets. Those are my favorites. It's that whole Kim Novak vibe.

    Congrats on your find!

    13. Go to Co-op America's business directory. . .
    www.coopamerica.org
then click on Green Pages Online.

Don't just boycott. "Buy"-cott from our blue allies in the red states.

(HINT: Search Utah in the category of Body/Personal Care - I am the only one there.)

    Two things... http://yellowarmband.com/
    and/or any Daniel Quinn book.http://www.friendsofishmael.org/about/about_us.shtml

Ishmael is the best starter book for adults and My Ishmael for teens and smart preteens! If your completely broke like me you can get instructions on how tho make your own armbands! I might even make bookmarks instead of armbands for the Ishmael books!
