Just listening to the news on the local radio station, and it seems our county jail has received a written reprimand for feeding prisoners too well!
According to the report, the average daily caloric intake of inmates exceeds the State guidelines, as do certain other areas, like calories from fat, etc. . No nutritional or caloric deficiencies were noted, however.
We're a small, rural county, and the food at the jail is prepared by 3 'good old country cooks' who have taken and passed all the requisite food-handling and nutrition classes required by both the DOC and the State Dep't of Public Health. They don't do fancy cooking, but it's normally tasty and well-prepared. I just called Tony to ask what was being served for lunch today, and he said it was Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, corn and fruit jello. Hmmm....
I think someone at the DOC is devoting all 8 cylinders to worrying about a 2-cylinder problem. :P
