Has anybody in the US ordered from amazon.com's UK site?
SIlly question, but I'm about to place an order for a CD. It's funny how the American stores can no longer get the CD, but oh well... are there any issues with translating between currencies?

Thx!

1. No problem....
...credit card companies do the currency translation automagically. I use Amazon UK and Eason's (the big Irish bookstore) all the time.

2. Thanks!
Hopefully it'll ship soon.

Amusingly, Amazon.co.uk can get out the CD in 24 hours - BBC America site has the product on backorder for 3-6 weeks!

:wow:

I want my foreign and equally superior music!

Gotta be careful though, they've far more Dr Who releases out (and Blake's 7) and it'll be hard not to buy those ... :D

3. Yes. I ordered a CD from them.

Took about three weeks for the delivery, if I remember correctly.

On edit: I should add that I opted for the lowest cost shipping. I was in no hurry.

4. Sometimes their prices are cheaper for import CDs
Even when you factor in the overseas shipping. We've always had good luck with them, including the one time we had to return something for an exchange. :hi:

6. Tell us how it goes. g'luck.
Why should the UK get Futurama #4 now, and us poor slobs in the USA gotta wait a year--at least?

I should live so long!

7. Well, that's because...
the US got to see "The Five Doctors" (Doctor Who's 20th anniversary special) on November 23, 1983 (the show began Nov 23, 1963) and the UK folks got to see it - with different footage no less - on November 25!! :D

Lots of Brits hated the producer of the time because he kept marketing his series to America. I'm glad he did.

Of course, John Nathan-Turner loved the show. FOX only loves money...

I did low-cost shipping, so it'll probably be a couple of weeks. But I'll definitely make a noise when it arrives. :-)

8. Nope. Credit card companies handle that smoothly.
It may come as a shock to you how much you eventually end up owing, but it will be an accurate translation of the exchange rate.

9. What CD? Have you tried Amazon.ca ?
Amazon.ca or even eBay?

I recently bought the new album by "The Beautiful South" on eBay... saved a few bucks over ordering from Amazon.uk and received it in a couple days instead of a couple weeks.

The Amazon.ca site is sometimes useful because they may have the title and I think the US dollar might be doing a little better against the Canadian dollar than the Euro.

So, spill... what CD you buying? ;)

10. Yes
I have ordered all my Harry Potter books from Amazon UK no problemo. However the DVD I ordered can only be seen on my computer and not on the DVD player.
